Sidney Kwok AAg, grew up in Windermere BC until moving to Calgary in 2018. She completed her Environmental Science bachelor’s degree at Mount Royal University in 2021 and has been working at Urban Systems Ltd as an environmental consultant since then! She is passionate about native Rocky Mountain vegetation and was inspired to pursue a career in environmental science by her grandpa, Doug Anakin, who taught her to appreciate our beautiful valley. Her experience at Urban Systems has been focused on wetland assessments and regulatory approvals, but she is also experienced in conducting fish salvages, bird sweeps, vegetation surveys, and construction monitoring.
Darren is an environmental professional with over 20 years of fisheries and consulting experience working for both government and private practice. Darren holds a degree in biology from Thompson Rivers University and has completed courses in electrofishing, fish passage (culvert barriers), environmental monitoring, stream restoration, wetland construction and Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessment. Darren is designated as a registered professional biologist (R.P. Bio.) through the British Columbia College of Applied Biology, as well as a P. Biol. with the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists. Darren has provided environmental expertise for various dike projects in BC and Alberta. Responsibilities typically include desktop assessments and field environmental assessments, developing environmental management plans and environmental monitoring plans, preparing mitigation and off-setting plans and obtaining all required permits and approvals for instream works, as well as acting as a liaison with provincial and federal government agencies to obtain required permits. Darren also has extensive experience with environmental monitoring, fish habitat assessments and inventory, stream restoration, wetland delineation and classification, groundwater well development, nesting bird surveys and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments. Supplementing his professional experience, Darren also worked as a Fisheries Technician with the Ministry of Environment and the BC Conservation Foundation. During these years he worked on a wide variety of fisheries management projects including fish tagging, radio telemetry, spawning counts, creel surveys and stock assessments.
